The enchanting world of sandblasting . . .
There are three basic techniques: shading, carving, and single stage “flat” blast. “Three Swimming Trout” is a sample of these techniques respectively, from top to bottom. I often use some combination of the three to help create a strong and compelling design. I mostly blast on glass, but I’ve also sandblasted on stone and on wood...which, in the process of carving wood, “raises” the grain and creates a fascinating background texture of its own. I sometimes integrate sandblasted glass and stained glass within a piece, which can be very complimentary. Glasswork currently available to buy is marked, “For Sale”. |
